Ten defendants are set to go on trial in Kim’s robbery case today, marking the case’s ninth-year court appearance, according to recent sources. On May 13, the reality TV star will visit Paris and tell her story. 
Her previous memories of the terrible incident and the suffering she went through will undoubtedly be reflected in her testimony. As previously disclosed by Kim, the men entered her hotel suite while posing as police officers. 

She was allegedly forced onto the bed, taped her hands, bound her with plastic cords, and then blindfolded at gunpoint. After capturing her, the bandits put her in the bathtub and took $10 million worth of jewelry.

For a number of reasons, including fearing for her life and dignity, Kim was scared by the occurrence.

Fortunately, it did not turn out that way. She reportedly informed police that she worried the males would rape her. As reported by TMZ, Yunice Abbas, one of the accused, even wrote a memoir about the incident.

According to her, she confronted him about the robbery right away, adding, “This has you written all over it.” Additionally, Abbas stated to a French news outlet that the “big job was to be the last.” The criminal and his nine accomplices are accused of belonging to a gang known as the “Grandpa Robbers.”

The members of the criminal gang were in their prime, ranging from their 60s to their 80s, hence the moniker. The suspects were found and taken into custody by the authorities three months after they robbed Kim. 

Five of them were accused of being personally involved in the crime and were charged with kidnapping and armed robbery. The others were criticized for their role as accomplices to the crime.

Two of the criminals have admitted their involvement in the crime.

Aomar Ait Khedache, one of Abbas’s accomplices, has admitted to the heist, and the other two will enter their pleas in a Paris courthouse on Monday. 

The outcome of the trial is uncertain because one of the suspects passed away lately, and another may not be able to face trial due to severe dementia.

Kim is the main witness in the robbery trial, which is anticipated to go three weeks. She said that her ex-husband, Kanye Ye’ West, had anticipated the Paris incident a month prior to her scheduled appearance at the hearing. 

A March episode of “The Kardashians” included Kim narrating the incident to her sister Khloé, according to The Blast’s coverage of the situation.

After her ex-husband warned her against showing off her money, the creator of Skims recalled that she had displayed the two engagement rings she received from Ye on social media. 

As soon as Kanye saw it, he said, “Never wear both of your rings at once. Is robbery your goal?” she asked Khloé.

Kim remembered Ye’s caution when she discussed her intentions for the 15-carat diamond ring with Khloé. The necklace would continue to play an important role in her life, she disclosed, adding that she would give it to her eldest child, North West.

In October 2013, Ye first proposed with the gorgeous jewel before upgrading his then-wife’s engagement ring to a sumptuous 20-carat emerald-cut diamond.

She contributed to the horrific heist by showing off both rings on social media during her 2016 Paris Fashion Week visit. The Blast revealed that Abbas had no remorse for his behavior and even accused Kim of luring his group to rob her. His own words:

“I was there to pick up the money she was discarding, and that was that. Are you guilty? No, that doesn’t matter to me. To those who cannot afford it, they ought to be a bit less ostentatious.”

Kim Kardashian’s Social Media Posts Attracted Robbers

Abbas emphasized that social media celebrities like Kim were pleading to be robbed, stating, “For some people, it’s provocative.” He pointed out that the reality TV star’s real-time location sharing made the crime simple.

Although he was the hotel lobby look-out throughout the crime, the suspect stated that he was afraid their plot would fail when the police got involved. “Madame Kardashian’s secretary requested assistance. But in the United States, she dialed 911, which alarmed us and cost them a great deal of time,” he added.

“And when we got out, there was a bunch of police outside who didn’t know anything about the robbery.”

French media reported that Abbas had a history of incarceration spanning decades and was no stranger to crime. After being arrested, the offender was imprisoned for 22 months before being released for heart-related health reasons.
