Why Did P-Square Split? During the explosive interview, Mr. P points the finger
Jude Okoye, their older brother who was instrumental in running their PClassic Label, was also enmeshed in the controversy.
Nigerian musician Peter Okoye, better known by his stage name Mr. P, has spoken out about his well-publicized feud with his twin brother, Paul Okoye, better known by his stage name Rudeboy.
Mr. P claims that their fans contributed to the rivalry between him and his twin, which ultimately resulted in the breakup of their band P-Square.
The renowned musical duo P-Square had a well-publicized argument that was made worse by the turmoil that followed and Peter’s alleged role in Paul’s detention by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
During a recent appearance on the AY Live Show, Peter blamed the group’s dissolution on fan pressure and public comparisons.
“The reason P-Square is no longer together is because of the fans.” Disrespect starts when two brothers are doing the same thing, but others start claiming one is superior and the other should take the lead, he said.
When Peter accused his twin of lying about claiming that Paul wrote the majority of their songs, tensions increased even worse.
Paul Okoye had previously stated in an interview that he authored most of the songs for the pair and disclosed that his brother had planned his EFCC arrest.
After years of internal strife and public arguments about management, economics, and creative direction, P-Square first broke up in 2017.
Jude Okoye, their older brother who was instrumental in running their PClassic Label, was also enmeshed in the controversy.
The trio had tremendous economic success while they were together as P-Square, selling out gigs all over Africa and became one of the most recognizable musical bands on the continent.
Paul publicly accused Peter of being responsible for his brother Jude’s legal issues at the beginning of February.
After Jude’s bail hearing, Paul told the media that his twin brother was the cause of the continuous problems.
Jude appears to be a scammer based on the way things are being presented, but let’s be honest. Jude is being pulled into this by Peter. I’m coming to free him from the prison that Peter is placing him in. Peter is my brother, and I won’t deny that, but that is unrelated to this. “It doesn’t matter if they say Jude is guilty and Paul is too,” he said.
