Tyrese Gibson’s request for a reduction in child support was met with resistance by her ex-wife who had debt claims
Tyrese Gibson encountered an obstacle in his continuous fight to reduce his child support obligations.
Samantha Gibson, the ex-wife of the “Fast & Furious” star, retaliated in court, pleading with a Georgia judge to reject his plea, claiming that he had been behind on payments for more than a year. Tyrese previously disclosed how his finances are strained by the present obligations and claimed a sharp decline in revenue.
Samantha Gibson presently has primary custody of Tyrese’s 5-year-old daughter, Soraya, after the couple’s 2023 divorce.
Tyrese Gibson faces more than $100,000 in child support debt claims while her ex-partner battles in court.
Samantha asked the Court to reject Tyrese’s motion to lower the $10,690 monthly support he was required to pay beginning in September 2022 in court documents submitted on February 14.
Tyrese “has only paid the full monthly amount three times,” according to Samantha, leaving him in arrears of $107,850 plus an extra $4,105 in interest. That makes $111,955 the total amount owed.
Her legal team stressed that the amount had already been determined to be fair by the courts and contended that his plea was only another delay tactic.
Samantha added that the lower court lacks the power to alter the terms because Tyrese challenged the decision to the Georgia Supreme Court, according to In Touch.
In an effort to reduce child support payments, the actor claimed that his income had dropped.
Just weeks after his arrest and release on charges of unpaid child support, the 46-year-old made the request on December 3, 2024, according to The Blast.
Tyrese claimed in his statement that his monthly income has dropped to about $39,000, an 85% decrease since September 2024.
Tyrese’s legal team noted that because he was self-employed, his income had always varied, but the latest drop presented a compelling argument for adjustment.
As his financial situation no longer qualified him as a high-income earner, they contended, “Tyrese’s child support obligation should be modified based upon the current incomes of both parties, effective immediately.”
After doing jail time for unpaid child support, Tyrese blasted the judge and attorney.
After serving a brief jail sentence for nonpayment of child support last year, Tyrese did not hold back. In an Instagram post following his release, he described the incident as “very traumatic,” making it apparent that he felt he was not given fair treatment in court.
The musician expressed his annoyance at Judge Kevin M. Farmer and Samantha’s lawyer, Adam Glickman, asking why they appeared to be so opposed to him.
He stated in the caption of the since-deleted post that both were trying to ruin him and that he had already made two attempts to have Judge Farmer removed from the case.
Additionally, he blasted the judge for applying a child support amount from a different California case to his present Georgia case, describing the action as unprecedented, unethical, and unlawful.
The father of two accused the judge and the attorney for his ex-wife of conspiring against him.
Tyrese further inflamed the dispute by asserting that Judge Farmer’s court statements demonstrated overt hostility, which he said was unlawful. Although he conceded that Samantha’s lawyer, Glickman, was entitled to disapprove of him, he maintained that a court must maintain objectivity.
Tyrese went one step farther and claimed that Judge Farmer and Glickman were involved in a covert scheme. He implied that the two were communicating often and might be conspiring to undermine his case. In his own words:
“I have no doubt that the judge and Adam Glickman are great friends and that there is conspiracy. They have apparently been conspiring, scheming, and cooperating with one another, as well as texting each other nonstop.”
Tyrese Gibson’s Argument With His First Ex-Wife About Restraining Orders And Fraud
Tyrese’s legal troubles weren’t only confined to one ex; last year, Norma Mitchell, his first wife, also brought him to court.
In a public outburst in April 2024, he accused Norma of fraud and extortion. In retaliation, she filed a defamation suit and requested a restraining order from the court to safeguard her and their daughter.
Tyrese was also ordered to remove a number of posts on social media that Norma felt were directed at her. The court ultimately ruled with Tyrese twice in spite of the grave accusations.
After she did not show up for the August hearing, her attempt to obtain a permanent restraining order was dismissed, and her plea for a temporary one was denied.
What would Tyrese Gibson say in response to the rebuttal from his ex-wife?
