
Snoop Dogg will release a gospel album in remembrance of his mother, who passed away
Snoop Dogg will pay tribute to his late mother by releasing a gospel album.
April 27, the 74th birthday of his mother, Beverly Tate, will see the release of the 53-year-old rapper’s “Altar Call” album.
About the project, Snoop informed his Instagram followers, “You heard it first, a gospel album.”
Regarding the forthcoming 21-track album, he continued, “God is good.” He claims it will bring listeners to church.
Snoop’s mother was a major impact on his life and music; she died in October 2021.
She spent many years as a church choir director, and her advice still influences his work today.
“My mother’s spirit will always be a part of me,” Snoop said to Okayplayer while discussing the album’s inspiration.
“Altar Call” is “a reflection of what she has taught me — to use my voice and my platform to spread love and heal the world,” he additional stated.
In regard to his 2018 gospel album, “Bible of Love,” he continued, saying the record is “another chapter out of the Bible of Love.”

The first song on the album is “Mother I Miss You,” and on April 18, a single will be released.
Jamie Foxx and the Death Row Mass Choir will also perform on the album.
Snoop previously honored his mother after she passed away by posting a picture of the two of them on Instagram with the caption, “Mama, thank you for having me.”
He also said, “Thank you God for giving me a mother who is an angel (white dove emoji).”
In addition, Snoop’s personal background with his stage moniker reflects his strong bond with his mother.
He claimed in a 2008 interview with Esquire that his mother gave him his now-famous nickname because of his fondness for Snoopy, a character from Peanuts.
“When I was younger, Snoopy was my favorite cartoon character. I used to love Peanuts and Charlie Brown,” he remarked.
“I watched so much, I started to look like him,” Snoop continued.
