Thomas Partey’s Eye-Sensinging Return to Atletico Madrid

The Spanish powerhouses are apparently considering a bid to re-sign Ghanaian midfielder Thomas Partey in order to strengthen their midfield before the upcoming campaign.

According to people close to the team, preparations are already underway for a possible comeback, as Partey’s contract with Arsenal is scheduled to end in June 2025. With only a little more than a year remaining on his contract and his future in North London up in the air, Atletico sees a chance to get back together with a player they know well.

Partey excelled under Diego Simeone for five seasons, becoming known as one of La Liga’s most dependable defensive midfielders. His departure to Arsenal in 2020 created a significant void in Atletico’s midfield, and the team thinks his background, physical prowess, and tactical discipline would be ideal for their current roster overhaul.

Although Partey’s career at Arsenal has been hindered by injuries, he is still a formidable midfield presence when healthy. In familiar surroundings, a return to the Wanda Metropolitano might be an opportunity for him to rekindle his career.

Atletico may try to jump in this summer or perhaps sign a pre-contract in January, but no formal offer has been made as of yet. This is because contract negotiations at Arsenal are said to have stagnated.

There will be a lot of Rojiblancos supporters watching.
