Kyren Lacy, an NFL hopeful and former LSU wide receiver, passes away months after a deadly hit-and-run incident

Kyren Lacy, a former standout player for LSU, died a few months after being implicated in a deadly hit-and-run incident.

Although there are currently few details available, some sources have stated that Lacy committed suicide. This hasn’t been confirmed yet. Jacques Doucet, the sports director for WAFB-TV, did, however, confirm with Lacy’s family that he passed away in Houston.

As you may remember, in December 2024, the 24-year-old was accused of participating in a criminal hit-and-run and was subsequently charged with negligent homicide. According to police, Lacy caused a head-on accident with a 2017 Kia Cadenza, driven by 78-year-old former Marine Herman Hall, when he entered the northbound lane in a no-passing zone. According to reports, Lacy left without calling for assistance or offering assistance. Lacy declared for the 2025 NFL Draft just two days after the collision.

He did, however, recently take part in the LSU Pro Day in Baton Rouge, despite not being invited to the NFL Combine to display his skills.

In a long Instagram post, Lacy’s close friend and international basketball star Rontrell Sandolph said, “I’m so lost for words.” I’m unable to speak. After going to sleep four times, I woke up to check if it was a dream.
