Report: The NBA issues a warning to Ja Morant of the Grizzlies
For their “finger gun” gestures during Tuesday’s game, Golden State Warriors player Buddy Hield and Memphis Grizzlies guard Ja Morant received warnings from the NBA but no more sanctions, according to an ESPN report on Thursday.
According to the report, the league concluded that their celebration moves were unacceptable and should not be repeated, even though they were not meant to be aggressive.
Both teams were also given warnings.
In Memphis, the Warriors prevailed 134-125.
The league has twice punished 25-year-old Morant for posting pictures of a firearm on social media.
In March 2023, the two-time All-Star received an eight-game unpaid suspension for displaying a gun in an Instagram Live video.
After a video of Morant holding a gun went viral online, the NBA launched an inquiry and suspended him for 25 games to begin the 2023–24 campaign.
