Ancelotti declares, “Mission accomplished as Real Madrid advances to the cup final”

Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti declared that his team had achieved their aim after rallying from a two-goal deficit to earn a thrilling 4–4 draw on Tuesday, securing a 5–4 aggregate victory that sent them to the Copa del Rey final.

Ancelotti dismissed concerns about his team’s poor performance and commended their effort in what he saw as an extremely entertaining match.

At a press conference, Ancelotti stated, “We have reached the final, which was our goal today, and there is not much time to think about it.”

“It was a fun game with many positive aspects and a few errors. We are in the final, and it was enjoyable.

Anything can happen at the Bernabeu, so I never saw us getting out of it. We never give up, even if we have to start from the rear. With the support of our fans, we never give up, especially at home.”

Ancelotti referred to David Alaba’s deflection of two balls into his own goal as “bad luck” and said the Austrian defender was not at fault. However, he pushed his defense to play more intently going forward.

“It’s not good to concede four goals in a game,” mentioned Ancelotti.

At the moment, our team is quite effective up front but lacks balance.

“But we can’t overlook our offensive play; it’s not that simple to score four goals against Real. We’re doing quite good, I believe.

Next month, Real Madrid, who have only won the Spanish Cup once in more over ten years, will face Barcelona or Atletico Madrid in an exciting final in Seville.

Before Wednesday’s second leg in Madrid, Atletico rallied to hold Barca to an exciting 4–4 tie.
