LeBron James talks about the incident with Stephen A. Smith on the sidelines and vows to do more to “protect” his family
James remarked, “He’s on, like, a Taylor Swift tour run right now,” in reference to the journalist.
Stephen A. Smith and LeBron James’ recent disagreement has been widely seen, and the renowned basketball star is escalating the conflict this week with fresh remarks. On March 26, Bron appeared on The Pat McAfee Show to talk about their viral exchange earlier this month. It’s important to note that the show is broadcast on ESPN, the same network on which Smith established his lucrative sports commentary career.
James mockingly remarked on the show, “He’s on, like, a Taylor Swift tour run right now,” referring to the fact that the journalist is talking about the incident a lot despite first claiming he didn’t want to.
“I didn’t want to address it at first,” the NBA champion continued. “I wasn’t going to talk about it. However, I feel compelled to address it with the release of the video. Do you mean me? Your a** was the one person who couldn’t wait for the video to be released so you could respond to it. Like, really?
The Lakers star went on to clarify why he had initially approached Smith, saying it had nothing to do with being upset with the First Take presenter for carrying out his commentary duties. “He didn’t get the idea at all. “The entire point,” James uttered. “I would never permit anyone who discusses the sport to be critical of athletes’ actions on the court. It is your responsibility to point out when a man isn’t performing. All of that is a component of the game.
“When you get personal with it, it’s my job to protect the players as well as my damn household,” he added.
The Ohio native also had to make a joke by implying that Smith will be thrilled that he is recognizing him and providing him with additional material to discuss. I believe a lot of the media, including him, and I’m positive he’ll be overjoyed to hear me mention him. He’s going to arrive home, sit in his tighty-whities on the couch, and get some ice cream out of the f**king freezer. Breathe, dude,” Bron teasingly said.
James confronted Smith about his remarks against Bronny on the sidelines of the Los Angeles Lakers vs. New York Knicks NBA exhibition game on March 6. The NBA champion is seen on camera warning the reporter, “Stop sh*t on my son,” in a firm tone.
Smith stated on “First Take” the following morning, “I am pleading with LeBron James as a father: Stop this,” a statement he has made throughout the season. “Cease this. We are all aware that Bronny James’ father is the reason he plays in the NBA.
“What I would have said… ‘I never would have spoken negatively about your son, I was talking about you, LeBron James,'” the pundit replied on his own platform the day after the game. All of my best wishes are with Bronny James. I hope he succeeds and becomes a famous NBA player. He’s a great child, and I genuinely hope he’s the exception. He’ll be alright because he’s a rookie. However, I was referring to the role his father placed him in. Watch the incident again, along with Bron’s most recent statement, above.
