Tanzania’s Benjamin Mkapa Stadium is temporarily closed by CAF
Benjamin Mkapa Stadium’s use has been temporarily suspended by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) because of the ongoing deterioration of the playing surface.
To avoid a lengthy stadium ban, CAF has ordered that the pitch undergo immediate improvements to meet the necessary standards.
The CAF Confederation Cup (CAFCC) quarterfinal match between Simba SC and Egypt’s Al Masry, which was initially planned for April 9 at the stadium, must be moved to a new location as a result of this decision, the Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) confirmed in a statement.
In order to prevent any disturbances, the Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) has been directed to provide the name of a substitute stadium for Simba SC by March 14, 2025.
The statement also stated that before determining whether to lift or prolong the suspension, CAF will inspect Benjamin Mkapa Stadium on March 20, 2025, to evaluate the improvements made.
