Trump Removes Joe Biden’s Children’s Secret Service Protection

The children of former President Joe Biden are no longer protected by the Secret Service, according to Donald Trump.

Trump declared Monday that, “effective immediately,” he was taking away protection for Biden’s son, Hunter Biden. Additionally, he announced that Ashley Biden, Hunter’s sister, would no longer have her Secret Service detail.

“Hunter Biden has had Secret Service protection for an extended period of time, all paid for by the United States Taxpayer,” Trump said, criticizing the Bidens’ considerable protection. This Detail has up to eighteen members, which is absurd! Ashley Biden, who had thirteen agents, would also be “taken off the list,” he continued.

“The Secret Service will comply and is actively working with the protective details and the White House to ensure compliance as soon as possible,” said Anthony Guglielmi, chief of communications for the Secret Service, who confirmed the decision.

Former presidents and their spouses are entitled to lifetime protection from the Secret Service, but protection for a president’s family usually stops after they leave office. Biden had previously issued an executive order extending protection for his adult children until July.

There are examples of presidents providing their children with prolonged protection prior to their resignation. For example, after his administration ended in 2021, Trump approved six months of extra protection for his adult children. In the first month following his term, taxpayers reportedly spent over $140,000 on the Trump children’s travel.
