Barack Obama was asked to play a part in the second season of “Severance”
Keanu Reeves’ participation in “Severance” was rejected by Barack Obama.
Ben Stiller, executive producer and director of the popular psychological sci-fi thriller series on AppleTV+, gave the 63-year-old former president a role as the voice of an animated Lumon building in a season two staff screening.
“There was one person that I asked before [Keanu], and he said no,” Ben stated during his appearance on “Jimmy Kimmel Live” this week.
Ben clarified that Obama was the other individual, saying, “I didn’t ask him in person.” “Hey, we have this show… whatever,” I sent in an email to a friend of mine who knew his lawyer, who replied, “I can relay the request if you write an email.”
“Hey Ben, I’m a huge fan of the show, I loved season one, and I’m looking forward to season two,” President Barack Obama said in an email to me two days later. “I don’t think I have enough time in my schedule to accomplish this.”
There is nothing “more important than doing the voice-over for the animated building in Severance,” the 59-year-old comic remarked.
Adam Scott, Britt Lower, and John Turturro star in the show, which centers on Lumon Industries office workers who have had the so-called “severance” surgery, which is the clinical separation of their personal and professional life.
Ben talked on how Keanu, 60, adapted to the part after acknowledging that it was “pretty cool” that Obama even replied.
