A top Russian official said that Russia and U.S. representatives will meet again in two weeks
Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov was quoted by the state news agency RIA on Saturday as saying that a second meeting between Russian and American officials is scheduled for the next two weeks.
In an effort to mend fences and be ready to end the almost three-year war in Ukraine, Moscow and Washington met Tuesday for the first time to discuss ending the conflict.
In an interview with RIA, Ryabkov stated that the meeting will be held in a third nation and that the precise location is still being decided, but he did not specify whether Russian or American representatives will be there.
Ryabkov said that both parties had “principled agreement” to consult in order to resolve “the entire block of so-called irritants.”
“Today we are facing two parallel, but, of course, to some extent, politically interconnected tracks: one is Ukrainian affairs, the other is bilateral,” Ryabkov stated.
“A dialogue on strategic stability and arms control is possible when we see visible shifts for the better in American policy,” he stated. He said that Russia and the United States might talk on the Middle East.
According to the Kremlin, the primary focus of last week’s first meeting was on bilateral relations between the United States and Russia, which it claimed was a “very, very important step” toward a settlement on the conflict in Ukraine.
This week, the Kremlin said that President Vladimir Putin and President Donald Trump of the United States might meet in person this month. Both males have expressed a desire to meet.
