Sportsbooks in Nevada won a record $22 million in the Super Bowl
Unaudited data revealed on Tuesday showed that the Philadelphia Eagles were not the only major Super Bowl winners, as their crushing of the Kansas City Chiefs resulted in record profits for bookmakers in Nevada, the largest gambling state in the United States.
In all, $151.6 million was placed on the NFL championship game at Nevada’s 186 sportsbooks, according to the Nevada Gaming Control Board. The house made a record $22 million profit, or 14.6% of the total wagers.
This year’s Super Bowl wagers in Nevada sportsbooks, however, were 20% lower than the state’s record $190 million stake on the event in Las Vegas last year, which yielded a 5.9% hold percentage.
Due to the fact that teams like the Chiefs, Buffalo Bills, and Baltimore Ravens were favored to win the Super Bowl during the NFL season, sportsbooks stood to gain more from an Eagles victory this year.
The American Gaming Association, which represents the American casino sector, predicted last week that a record $1.39 billion will be wagered lawfully on the Super Bowl in the US.
In New Orleans, the Eagles defeated the Chiefs 40–22, and quarterback Jalen Hurts was voted the Most Valuable Player of the Super Bowl on Sunday.
