Kendrick Lamar’s dissimilarity to us Spotify Streams Soar By 430 Percent After the Super Bowl
Kendrick Lamar’s participation on the Super Bowl Halftime Show resulted in a notable 43% increase in Spotify plays for his Drake hate song “Not Like Us.”
Following his thrilling headline performance at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans on Sunday, the hip-hop superstar’s streaming have skyrocketed, increasing by 175% overall.
Music fans, however, are obsessed with K Dot’s record-breaking song “Not Like Us,” which took center stage during the Kansas City Chiefs vs. Philadelphia Eagles NFL championship game.
Kendrick chose to exclude the lyric accusing Drake of being a “certified pedophile,” which he has denied, when performing a modified version of the startling song.
“I want to perform their favorite song, but you know they love to sue,” he said during the 13-minute set, mocking his rap rival’s lawsuit against Universal Music Group for defamation over the lyrics.
Other songs like “HUMBLE” experienced a 300 percent spike, while “All the Stars,” which he performed with SZA, saw a 290 percent increase, as did “Euphoria,” another Drake diss song.
A number of Kendrick’s most recent album, “GNX,” also saw significant growth.
After SZA joined her frequent collaborator to perform “All the Lights” from Black Panther and “Luther” from GNX, her streaming increased by 80%.
After the Super Bowl, the two revealed further stops on their combined “Grand National Tour,” which will include Cardiff, Glasgow, Birmingham, and London in July.
Beginning on July 8 at Glasgow’s Hampden Park, the UK leg will conclude on July 22 at London’s Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
On Friday, February 14 at 9 a.m. GMT, tickets will be available for purchase on Ticketmaster.co.uk.
There will be a Live Nation pre-sale on Thursday, February 13 at 9:00 a.m. GMT.
April and June are when the North America leg is held.
Kendrick hasn’t visited the UK since 2022, and last year, SZA was the main act at Glastonbury.
Over the years, the two have frequently collaborated, as seen by their appearances on Kendrick’s most recent album, “GNX,” on “Luther” and “Gloria,” as well as on 2017’s “Doves in the Wind” and December’s “30 For 30” off SZA’s reissue of “SOS” (also known as “LANA”).
The “genius” rapper SZA, whose actual name is Solána Rowe, has previously stated that she learns a lot from working with him and would be thrilled to collaborate with him on a full-length album.
In January, she stated on “Sherri”: “I would love that.”I believe that would be fantastic. He is very brilliant. And I adore how he is so elusive and secretive, which is a part of his genius.
