Lil Wayne Announces “Special” Decision to Absent from Super Bowl

“I’ve been working on something very special.”

Although Lil Wayne is officially not attending the Super Bowl, he will be making a “special announcement” shortly about something else. 

The emcee of Tha Carter III came to social media on Tuesday, February 4, to inform fans that he would not be attending the NFL’s big game in New Orleans, but that exciting things were in the works. He said, “You all know I’m not going to be there this week, which means I guess there’s a seat to fill.” I have been working on something really unique, but I want to give a shout-out to New Orleans. On Thursday, the 6th, I have something wonderful planned for you. Till then… I’m relaxing.

With Tha Carter VI in the works, fans have conjectured that the announcement would have something to do with music, but no other information about Weezy’s surprise has been released as of yet. The Hip-Hop icon earlier talked about not playing at Super Bowl LIX and said that he had a direct conversation with Kendrick Lamar, telling the artist that he had nothing but respect for him. This is in reference to the big game in the Big Easy.

“I think it’s above my head for some reason. I simply don’t know why. I think it’s perfect, of course.In December 2024, he said to Skip Bayless, “I don’t know why,” in reference to his exclusion from the main event. “I spoke with Kendrick, and I told him to kill it and I wish him the best.”

On Sunday, February 9, Kendrick Lamar will perform during the Super Bowl LIX Halftime Show at Caesars Superdome. Officially, SZA will be a guest during the concert, but there have been rumors that Ab-Soul and other TDE musicians would also be there.
