Benson Boone Talks About the Grammys’ Viral Crotch-Grabbing Moment

During the Grammy Awards, Benson Boone made a humorous apology for tweaking his crotch onstage.

Not because of his energetic performance, which featured several of his trademark back flips, but rather because he “aggressively” rearranged the material of his baby blue jumpsuit in an awkward spot, the 22-year-old “Beautiful Things” hitmaker went viral for his rendition of the song at the star-studded party at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles on Sunday.

The group was “extremely restricting” in “certain areas,” he has now admitted.

“Sorry for adjusting my jumpsuit so aggressively on stage tonight that thing was extremely restricting in certain areas,” Benson said in a topless photo picture on his Instagram Story following the Grammy Awards. (sic)

Model Heidi Klum, 51, and stand-up comedian Nikki Glaser, 40, joined him in the crowd before he leaped onstage, tearing off his suit to expose the tight jumpsuit.

“Pink Pony Club” hitmaker Chappell Roan, 26, took up the Best New Artist award instead of Benson.

Prior to the performance, Benson said on the red carpet that he felt “a lot of” anxious “energy flowing through” his body.

I’m doing well,” he told PEOPLE. As you can see, I am now experiencing a lot of energy.

For me, this is just insane. This place is full with amazing folks. I’m so thrilled to be performing. Right now, I feel like c******* my trousers.

The singer of “Slow It Down,” who only discovered his singing ability around five years ago, finds it hard to imagine that singing is now his career.

“I realized I could sing between four and a half and five years ago,” he stated.

I’ve been doing it daily ever since. I consider it to be my biggest love, and I’m glad I can support myself doing it.
