Shakib understands how to put me in my place, but I’m not obedient – Zari

Zari Hassan, 44, a Ugandan socialite and reality TV personality, has talked candidly about why, after just a year of courting, she decided to wed her young husband, Shakib Lutaaya Chum, 32.

Prior to meeting Shakib, Zari had been romantically involved with Diamond Platnumz, a singer from Bongo Flava, for four years. Zari was hesitant to get married, even if there was mention of doing so at some time throughout their relationship.

However, it wasn’t the case with Shakib, her spouse. In accordance with Islamic principles, they chose to get married a year after meeting in 2022.

“Out of all the men I’ve dated, Shakib is the most pleasant, which is why I chose to make it halal with him. When we are together, he is someone who makes me feel comfortable. Shakib is the embodiment of home, which is not a physical structure but rather a place of tranquility. Zari recently revealed this while in Kenya to extend her agreement with Samsung Electronics as a brand ambassador.

Their marriage appeared to be failing just a few months after they were married, as the pair had several unpleasant public arguments on social media that caused many to doubt their union.

Zari openly chastised her husband for being very insecure in one instance last year.

Diamond and Zari have two children together, and the problem started when Diamond unexpectedly attended her daughter’s birthday celebration in South Africa.

Zari threw a spectacular all-white celebration for her daughter Tiffah’s special day at her opulent Pretoria house.
The situation changed, nevertheless, when Shakib complained about Diamond’s unexpected entrance.

Inquiring as to why he had not been told that Diamond would be at the party, Shakib implied that Zari could still harbor feelings for him, a claim the socialite refuted.

“I’m sure he’s learning to tolerate my antics, but I know I have some.” Shakib is the leader; he can calm and soothe me. I am not very submissive and I am extremely obstinate, but Shakib has a way of putting me in my place. He makes good use of the fact that he is a very calm person. I thus felt comfortable enough to marry him when we first started dating since I needed a man like him.
