Mosengo-Omba, the secretary general of CAF, was exonerated of fraud accusations

Veron Mosengo-Omba, the secretary general of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), will not be prosecuted, the organization has declared.

This follows an inquiry into payments made to Swiss bank accounts conducted by the Swiss Public Prosecutor’s Office.

In November 2024, the Swiss-DR Congolese football executive, who maintained his innocence, appeared before the Swiss prosecutor’s office in the Fribourg canton.

The following statement, released by CAF, clarifies that Mosengo-Omba will not be subject to any action regarding the fraud charges.

“After finding no facts or legal basis to begin legal proceedings, the Swiss Public Prosecutor’s Office has decided to stop investigations against Confederation Africane de Football (“CAF”) Secretary General, Veron Mosengo-Omba,” the statement said.

Veron Mosengo-Omba willingly traveled to Fribourg, Switzerland, in November 2024 to respond to inquiries about the preliminary investigations.

“CAF applauds the Swiss Public Prosecutor’s Office’s decision and is happy that the culture and dedication to ethics, transparency, and governance that have been established since Dr. Patrice Motsepe’s presidency are still being upheld within CAF and the CAF Secretariat.”
