
Asake receives a top nomination for the 2025 BRIT Awards for his Lungu Boy
The only African nominee for the 2025 BRIT Awards is Nigerian sensation Asake.
Asake, who is well-known for his creative blending of modern and Afrobeats music, was nominated for the coveted BRITs International Artist of the Year award. The nomination comes after Lungu Boy, his third studio album, became a hit and enthralled fans in Africa and beyond.
The renowned O2 Arena in London will host the BRIT Awards, which are widely regarded as one of the most prominent occasions in the music business, on March 1, 2025.
For the first time in more than 40 years, the Beatles have been nominated for a BRIT Award.
Charli XCX is the front-runner with five nominations, including Song of the Year, Artist of the Year, Pop (sponsored by Capital), Dance Act (sponsored by KISS), and the coveted Mastercard Album of the Year for “Brat.”
Benson Boone, Beyonce, Billie Eilish, Chappell Roan, Sabrina Carpenter, and Taylor Swift all received two nominations in the International categories: one for International Song of the Year and one for International Artist.
Pop, dance, alternative/rock, hip-hop, and R&B are the five genre categories that are up for voting by fans. Nominees may be found on the Brits What’sApp channel starting on January 31. Until February 14th, voters may cast one ballot in each category every 24 hours.
