A Southwest Airlines pilot was arrested for DUI and removed before to takeoff
Before takeoff, the pilot was pulled from the cockpit due to a suspected alcohol odor.
Shortly before Wednesday’s planned flight from Savannah, Georgia, to Chicago, a Southwest Airlines pilot was taken off duty and taken into custody on suspicion of being inebriated. The scent of alcohol and other indicators that cast doubt on the pilot’s suitability for flight prompted authorities to take action.
Sources claim that airport police in Savannah took David Paul Allsop out of the cockpit of Southwest aircraft 3772, which was set to take off for Chicago’s Midway Airport. The airline said that although the event created difficulties for customers, they were accommodated on alternative flights.
In reaction to the event, a Southwest Airlines representative said, “The Employee has been removed from duty.” “We regret the inconvenience caused to the customers’ travel arrangements, and they were accommodated on other flights.” Nothing is more crucial to Southwest than our employees’ and customers’ safety.
Allsop was detained on suspicion of driving under the influence and later released on a $3,500 bail, according to jail records.
Southwest has reaffirmed its dedication to passenger safety but has not provided any new information on the matter.
