The Kiffness, a South African celebrity, replicates a gospel song from Rwanda that has gone viral

The popular gospel song “Everyday, I Need Blood of Jesus,” which was initially performed by Gloriose Musabyimana, a rising gospel singer from Rwanda who is primarily known on social media as Gogo Gloriose, has been given a new twist by well-known South African YouTuber and musician David Scott, also known as “The Kiffness.”

Since its debut last week, the performance, which features instrumental arrangements, has drawn interest from audiences all over the world, and The Kiffness was no exception. He chose to feature after being moved by the song’s lyrics.

Born in Eastern Province’s Rwamagana District Gogo Gloriose first gained notoriety in an Anglican church choir. She began singing informally because she was interested in the composition of songs and was motivated by reading the Bible, but she soon realized how talented she was.

Before getting funding to begin recording her own music, she composed over three songs for her choir. She now has ten audio songs, two of which have accompanying videos.

Gogo Gloriose recently stated that she doesn’t have any particular source of income in an interview with the local YouTube station Ibuye Tv1. Since her parents died, she has been cared for by her aunt, with whom she currently resides.

She claimed that her inspiration is well-known gospel performer Theo Bosebabireba.

The song’s viral journey

Gogo Gloriose, whose other compositions include the Christmas-themed tune “Uwo Mwana,” has been making appearances on local platforms in the form of comedy and entertainment through talk shows and interviews.

The 36-year-old originally performed the widely shared clip on the local YouTube station “Urugendo Online TV.” The channel, which is well-known for its gospel testimonies and chat shows, played Gogo’s song, which went viral on social media.

The repetitious but spiritually uplifting phrase, “Everyday, I need the blood of Jesus,” soon gained a lot of likes on social media and eventually turned into a viral meme. It even gave rise to the “mosquito challenge” on the internet, particularly on TikTok.

The viral film was discovered by David Scott, who is well-known for his inventive musical collaborations and parody videos, and he turned it into a whole musical composition.

As seen in his YouTube video, the producer added layers of harmony and rhythm to Gogo Gloriose’s straightforward yet impactful melody by utilizing instruments like the piano and trumpet. The video, which has been posted on YouTube and TikTok, now combines Gogo’s real vocals with the re-production approach of The Kiffness.

His YouTube channel, which has nearly 3 million subscribers, features the Kiffness’ rendition, which he referred to as his “first collab of 2025.” As of Sunday, January 12, the song had already had over 102,000 views.

Scott promised viewers in the description of the video that Gogo Gloriose will get her part of the streaming profits in the event that the song is formally released.

Scott emphasized moral methods in viral content monetization when he stated, “Once we’re able to reach out to Gogo, we will arrange to pay her fair share of streaming revenue from this video and/or song.”

Who is The Kiffness?

David Scott’s distinctive online collaborations, which combine professional music production with user-generated content and viral videos, have helped him establish a reputation. He received much praise in 2020 for his witty COVID-19 spoof songs and animal collaborations, including a squawking bird and a singing cat.

Ruan Vitor, a small child from the northeastern Brazilian state of Bahia, is featured in the most current viral video, which has been viewed by over 4,000,000 people. Because of Ruan’s talent and motivational background, this film has received a lot of attention.

One of his supporters claims that Ruan hails from an extremely impoverished region in the interior of Bahia. Among the many difficulties his family has encountered is the fact that his mother survived a potentially fatal assault at the hands of her ex-husband, who was unable to accept their split. Ruan also has twin siblings, one of whom is often in the hospital due to persistent health problems.

Ruan wrote the song that helped him become famous. A video that a family friend had taken of him singing the song in their lawn went viral very fast.

Now serving as Ruan’s manager, this friend assists him in scheduling performances in other cities. Ruan’s family’s financial status has significantly improved as a result of the performances, giving his mother and siblings much-needed help.
