Trump says a meeting with Putin is planned

In an attempt to end the conflict in Ukraine after his inauguration, Donald Trump has announced preparations to meet with Vladimir Putin.

There are preparations to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin, according to US President-elect Donald Trump. Trump said during remarks at his Mar-a-Lago club in Florida that both leaders are eager to have talks, though no timeframe has been given.

Trump stated, “We are arranging for him to meet.” The US has not yet formally requested the meeting, according to Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov, who was quoted by Russian news outlet Tass.

Soon after taking office on January 20, Trump has promised to mediate an end to the current conflict in Ukraine. Trump reaffirmed his focus on peace efforts while expressing doubts about the level of US financial and military assistance for Kyiv.

On Thursday, he declared, “President Putin wants to meet.” We need to end that conflict, as he has stated publicly. It’s a bloody mess.

A retired lieutenant-general and former national security adviser, Keith Kellogg has been selected by Trump to be his administration’s special envoy to Russia and Ukraine. In a study report released by the America First Policy Institute in April of last year, Kellogg previously laid out his plans for US engagement in the fight.

Kellogg made the suggestion in the article that US assistance to Ukraine be contingent on Kyiv’s readiness to negotiate a peace agreement with Moscow. He said, though, that the US should keep providing financial and military support to Ukraine even if Moscow chose not to take part.

The president of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, was hopeful that the crisis would be resolved after Trump won the election in November. He said Trump’s administration might hasten the conclusion of the battle.

Although Zelensky called their phone conversation after the election a “constructive exchange,” he did not reveal whether Trump had made any requests about possible peace talks with Russia.

The world community is keeping a careful eye on Trump’s future moves regarding the crisis as he gets ready to take office, especially the possible results of a meeting with Putin and the ramifications for US-Ukraine-Russia ties.
