John Legend and Chrissy Teigen Give an Emotional Home Evacuation Update During the “Hellscape” LA Fires

“Looking for any and all ways to help our community right now, please send anything you see.”

Numerous residents have continued to lose their homes as a result of the horrific natural disaster caused by the Los Angeles wildfires that have raged through various parts of Southern California. Chrissy Teigen gave an emotional update on her predicament, saying that while her family, including her husband John Legend and their four children, was among the many who managed to flee to safety, she still feels terrible for her town.

I’ve been unable to speak; it’s a hellscape. We are currently fine, but it felt strange to declare that in front of so many people we know and don’t know who are not. She thanked her 41 million fans on her story for getting in touch.

“We’re looking for any and all ways to help our community right now, please send anything you see,” the Chrissy’s Court star wrote, encouraging people to share any ways she can help others. And may God bless all first responders, including firefighters. After sharing a picture of herself packing a suitcase, she claimed she was “very scared” and that the situation felt “surreal.”

Teigan gave fans another updates a few hours after the post, confirming that she and her family were okay. She posted a short video of her dogs playing all over her and John on Instagram Stories, after which she posted a picture of herself lying in a hotel bed with the comment, “4 dogs, 4 kids, and a bearded dragon walk into a hotel.”

NBC reports that the Palisades Fire has consumed “nearly 27 square miles, or more than 17,234 acres.” It is the most catastrophic in Los Angeles history, having destroyed 1,000 buildings and been completely uncontained.

The outlet also revealed that at least five people had been killed, and 100,000 people had been displaced as a result of the atrocity as of the time of publication. As of Thursday, January 9, some 350,000 energy customers—including those who live in L.A. County, the most populated county in the nation—were without power. According to PEOPLE, the fires have destroyed the mansions of celebrities including Paris Hilton, Diane Warren, Sandra Lee, and others.
