Ice Spice sets a new record by performing for an unprecedented five minutes at an Australian festival
Ice Spice has issued an apology for her brief five-minute performance at the Wildlands Festival in Brisbane, Australia.
The 25-year-old rapper performed at the festival in three distinct cities—Brisbane, Perth, and Adelaide. However, her New Year’s Eve performance was a complete catastrophe when her microphone was disconnected at the commencement of her third song as a result of the festival’s stringent curfew.
According to reports, Ice Spice was scheduled to perform a 30-minute set onstage at 10:30 p.m. However, she did not emerge until 10:55 p.m.
She successfully executed “Deli,” “Princess Diana,” and a portion of “In Ha Mood.”
Ice Spice expressed her regret for arriving late during her set at the Perth edition on Saturday (04.01.25) by stating, “I’m sorry, guys. I’m sure you can forgive me.”
In reference to her collaboration with Nicki Minaj, “Barbie World,” she joked, “It takes a long time to resemble a Barbie, and it was my birthday.”
The festival’s administrators clarified that they were required to adhere to the designated schedule in order to facilitate the countdown to the New Year and conclude the event at 12.30 p.m.
In response to a backlash from disgruntled festivalgoers, Wildlands posted a comment on Instagram that read: “We comprehend that Ice Spice’s delayed arrival resulted in some disappointment.”
“We must be extremely strict with set times in order to manage a stacked festival.” We had a strict curfew of 12:30 and needed to guarantee that the final performer was on stage on time so that all attendees could enjoy the New Year’s Eve countdown.
According to Brenton Larney, a journalist who was present, the microphone was disconnected at 11:01 p.m., and the audience’s collective exhale could be heard, as he stated in an interview with The Guardian. They had been anticipating this moment for some time, and now they are granted access to two songs?
“It was really disrespectful of her to leave; she was laughing, and they attempted to give her flowers for her birthday, but she simply shrugged them off.”
