The Vegas Raiders terminate head coach Pierce following a poor season

Antonio Pierce was sacked by the Las Vegas Raiders on Tuesday after his first full season as head coach. This was the team’s most recent firing after the last week of the NFL regular season.

After taking over as temporary head coach in 2023, the former Pro Bowl linebacker had a horrible 2024 season in which the Raiders finished last in the AFC West with a 4-13 record.

The organization noted in a statement that “Antonio’s Silver and Black roots run deep and he grew up a Raiders fan.”

“We are grateful for his ability to reignite what it means to be a Raider throughout the entire organization.”

After Doug Pederson was fired by the Jacksonville Jaguars on the NFL’s notorious yearly “Black Monday,” Pierce is the most recent coach to lose their job.

The New England Patriots began the action on Sunday by dismissing coach Jerod Mayo following his first season in charge.
