Son, the Spurs captain, extends his stay through 2026
Son Heung-min, the captain of Tottenham Hotspur, will stay with the team until at least 2026 after the Premier League team triggered a one-year contract extension on Tuesday.
Since joining Spurs in 2015, the 32-year-old has made 431 appearances for the team, tallying 169 goals and 90 assists. He will stay in North London until the conclusion of the next season, even though his present contract was set to expire at the end of this one.
He is the most prolific Asian player in the history of the Premier League and one of the top 20 goal scorers of all time.
The South Korean captain has participated in the 2014, 2018, and 2022 World Cups and has 131 caps for his country.
On Wednesday, Spurs will play Liverpool in the first leg of their League Cup semifinal match.
