The ministry has announced that Senegal’s 2024 oil output at Sangomar exceeded the objective

The energy ministry of Senegal said on Tuesday that the Sangomar offshore oil and gas field increased its crude production to 16.9 million barrels in 2024, surpassing its planned goal of 11.7 million.

About 100,000 barrels per day (bpd) are anticipated to be produced at Sangomar, which was discovered ten years ago approximately 100 kilometers (62 miles) south of the capital Dakar.

Last year saw the arrival of a floating production, storage, and offloading (FPSO) vessel for the project run by Woodside Energy (WDS.AX).

To reach the desired output of 100,000 barrels per day, the ministry said in a statement posted on X that all wells had been brought online by the end of 2024.

In December, Sangomar produced 2.96 million barrels of crude oil, including three cargoes, of which 2.94 million barrels were exported, according to the report.
