Russian authorities claim that a Utair Boeing 737 makes an emergency landing in Moscow
According to Russia’s RIA news agency, Russian airline Utair (UTAR.MM), opens new tab, made an emergency landing at Moscow’s Vnukovo Airport on Tuesday.
Boeing (BA.N) launches a new tab A 737 carrying 173 people made a safe landing at Vnukovo while on route from St. Petersburg to Samarkand, Uzbekistan, according to RIA.
According to the TASS news agency, Utair stated that a stabilizer problem was the cause of the emergency landing.
Requests for response from Reuters were not immediately answered by Utair or Vnukovo airport.
The airline told RIA that none of the passengers or workers were hurt.
Currently, Russia lacks adequate aircraft to fulfill the growing demand for air travel as economic development spurred by Moscow’s war effort raises earnings and people’s willingness to spend.
Due to Western sanctions imposed in response to Moscow’s invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, local manufacture has been unable to replace the planes and parts that have been cut off.
