Golden Globes: Cynthia Erivo Needed Five-Hour Manicure

It took five hours to create Cynthia Erivo’s manicure for the Golden Globes.

The 37-year-old actress, who lost to Demi Moore in the race for Best Actress in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy for “Wicked,” walked the red carpet at the Beverly Hilton hotel on Sunday wearing a custom Louis Vuitton gown, but what truly grabbed attention were her long, colorful, diamond-encrusted nails.

“This took five hours,” she said on “Live From E! Golden Globes.” Today, my amazing manicurist did it.

“I have a job. I’ll take care of my emails. I’ll finish my texts. I’m going to watch TV. It’s enjoyable.

Cynthia discussed how, in recent months, her red carpet attire has been influenced by her role as Elphaba.

“Elphaba’s skin tone is green, but she frequently wears black, so I’ve been experimenting with the shapes and structures of various black dresses,” she added.

“We’ve been experimenting with it and occasionally introducing green.”

And because Cynthia is so appreciative of her connection with co-star Ariana Grande, “Wicked” has transformed more than just her sense of style.

There are things that people don’t see while we’re off camera, like our private chats and our time spent together after the cameras have stopped, she added.

Sometimes we just act foolishly. We have methods for ensuring verbal communication is possible. I adore that about us. We have developed a close relationship.

She can know right away when I’m exhausted, and I can tell right away when she’s exhausted. She can also tell right away when I’m anxious. We are well aware of each other’s demands. It has just been beautiful since we have spent so much time together and have been ready to teach one another in that manner.

In the past, Cynthia explained that she and her nail artist, Rose Hackle, purposefully selected for her to wear long, pointed acrylic nails as a “nod to my culture and a nod to the character” since the real Wicked Witch of the West, Margaret Hamilton, was seen sporting long talons.

“I knew that I wanted Elphaba to have a complete set,” she said to Marie Claire magazine. We created a nail that seemed to be derived from her genetic makeup rather than merely being done for her.

They are considerably longer and more expressive in the second film. We are experimenting with the marbling and ombré of it.
