Nwaneri of Arsenal is sidelined for weeks due to a muscular ailment

Manager Mikel Arteta announced before of Tuesday’s League Cup semi-final matchup against Newcastle United that Ethan Nwaneri, an attacking midfielder for Arsenal, will be sidelined for a few weeks due to a muscle problem.

After winger Bukayo Saka was out for over two months due to surgery for a hamstring injury, Arteta’s team was already in shock.

This season, Nwaneri, 17, has made appearances in 18 games for Arsenal in all competitions, including 12 Premier League games and all three of their prior League Cup encounters, where he has scored five goals.

After scoring the lone goal in Saturday’s 1-1 league tie against Brighton & Hove Albion, the Arsenal academy product was substituted by Gabriel Martinelli at halftime.

Arteta informed reporters on Monday that he will be out for a few weeks due to a muscular issue.

Forward Kai Havertz, who missed the North London team’s previous two games due to sickness, is also uncertain for the home match against Newcastle, along with forward Raheem Sterling and defenders Ben White and Takehiro Tomiyasu.

“I hope (Havertz) returns to action, but I don’t want to say yes because last time I said he would be fit and he wasn’t fit,” said Arteta.

“What happens in the market, we are very alert,” the Spaniard stated when asked if he planned to add more players during the January transfer window. It’s not a no, but it’s also not a yes.

Newcastle, who have won their previous six games in all competitions, including thrilling wins over Aston Villa, Manchester United, and Tottenham Hotspur, received a lot of praise from Arteta.

“They are a fierce foe. Alexander Isak has been in excellent form, scoring 14 goals in 21 games for Newcastle, including seven straight in the Premier League, according to Arteta, who also noted that the team has extremely good individual players.

“He’s clearly a good talent and playing at his best right now. He is scoring goals at a high rate. He went on, “Trying to minimize the strength of the opposition.”
