Eni starts the second stage of the Baleine field in Ivory Coast’s oil and gas production
Eni (ENI.MI), an energy corporation based in Italy, announced on Saturday that it had begun a second phase of oil and gas production at the offshore Baleine field in Ivory Coast.
Eni began production last August after discovering the Baleine field in September 2021. By the end of 2024, the second phase was supposed to start.
According to a statement released by Eni on Saturday, production will now approach 60,000 barrels of oil per day (bbl/d) and 70 million standard cubic feet of associated gas per day (Mscf/d).
Eni stated that Baleine would also have a third development phase when production began last year, which could boost output to 150,000 bbl/d and 200 Mscf/d.
Through its subsidiary Agip Cote d’Ivoire, the Italian energy firm has maintained a presence in the West African nation since the 1960s.
