President Museveni is currently facilitating Jose Chameleone’s treatment in the United States

The administration of President Yoweri Museveni has assumed responsibility for enabling Ugandan music legend Joseph Mayanja, often known as Jose Chameleone, to receive treatment overseas from flamboyant singer, socialite, and entrepreneur Juliet Zawedee.

The legend was transported to Boston, USA, this week for specialist treatment for what is believed to be acute pancreatitis. He started his musical career in Nairobi as an artist for Ogopa Records.

According to Ugandan doctors, the singer’s pancreatic was inflamed and required extensive surgery.

His oldest son, Abba Marcus, disclosed that his father had severe pancreatitis, bringing his sickness to the public’s attention. Long-term alcohol usage may be the cause of the illness.

Marcus disclosed, in the face of criticism, that his father had been an alcoholic for a long time and had even disregarded the doctor’s advise to give up alcohol.

According to a number of Ugandan entertainment blogs, singer Juliet Zawedde, who lives in the US, has offered to cover Chameleone’s medical fees and other treatment-related costs.

Ms. Zawedde purchased a $6,000 business class ticket for Chameleone and a $2,000 ticket for his younger brother, singer Weasel, who traveled with him to the United States.

The extravagant Juliet, who has three albums to her name and more than 4.5 million Instagram followers, became well-known in Uganda in 2019 after becoming popular due to her extravagant lifestyle.

Later, conflicting reports surfaced between Zawedde and the Ugandan government regarding who should pay for Chameleoné’s medical care and travel. The government’s supporters contended that since the singer is a national celebrity who deserves respect, the government should make the final decision. According to Big Eye Uganda.

Nonetheless, it has now been established that the government of President Yoweri Museveni has taken over the issue and will now pay for all of his associated medical expenses.

The revelation was confirmed by Dr. Balaam Barugahara, Uganda’s Minister of State for Youth and Children Affairs and a promoter of events and music.
“The government has stepped in to enable Chameleone to receive expert treatment because the President wants him to live longer and continue to contribute to the entertainment industry,” Dr. Balaam told reporters.

After spending years in and out of the hospital, Chameleone’s condition worsened early this month, and he was sent to Nakasero Hospital in a severe condition.
