Very Demurrrrrrr! Tyler Perry explains that his son didn’t have a job, which is why he only received books and blocks for Christmas

Recently, Tyler Perry shared his holiday parenting philosophy, saying that he only gives his son two Christmas presents because he is on Tommy Strawn status: “He don’t have a job!”

Now, Tyler That’s one way to put an end to the nepo baby nonsense! Tyler Perry is one of the most diligent men in show business because of his never-ending production schedule and the numerous roles he plays on both sides of the camera. Even when it comes to Christmas, he was candid about the choices he made to ensure his son shares his legendary work ethic and morals rather than his wealth and fame.

He discussed his parenting philosophy on Sherri Shepherd’s show while promoting his new Netflix movie, The Six Triple Eight. The host inquired about Tyler’s plans for the holidays and if he received a Christmas list from his son. The 55-year-old could offer Aman Tyler anything he wants because he has a huge studio in Georgia and a correspondingly vast fortune. The media tycoon quickly put an end to the notion, saying, “He don’t get no Christmas list.”

“He receives two items: Legos and books,” Tyler added.

“That’s it?!” Sherri asked in astonishment.

“He is unemployed! What else will he receive? Without missing a beat, Tyler joked.

Making sure his famous seed recognizes the importance of hard work is the goal for the writer, producer, and director. Thus, the subdued Christmas is only the beginning. He recounted that instead of using Tyler’s PJ, he and his ex-wife Gelila Bekele decided to solely fly commercial. He was already so accustomed to luxury travel at the age of five that he grumbled about taking the commercial flight. Both parents decided he needed a reality check after that.

“They’ve been coaching for years to make sure he knows I worked, even though he didn’t! So he can learn that lesson at work. He will not become one of those ludicrous, pampered, wealthy children! That is unacceptable to me! No! He doesn’t have any money! He went on.

Sherri then inquired as to how Tyler, in spite of his fame, “keeps it normal” for Aman. “He doesn’t have that thing of ‘Tyler Perry’s son,’ because you don’t show him in public.”

“Before people start saying, ‘Oh, that’s Tyler Perry’s son,’ I want him to know who he is.” Keeping him out of the public eye is something I want to ensure. I stay in the back so he can play without being harassed, even when I’m at a game. I care about all of those things so that he can live as normal a life as possible. He said, “I don’t want him to be that spoiled, rich, entitled, but it’s very different from my childhood.”

Tyler had previously talked about prioritizing his child’s growth, even though the jokes about him pocket-checking his child made others chuckle. He explained the “grounded” parenting strategy to Gayle King at the Tribeca Film Festival in 2022 in an effort to “teach him about the struggle.”

“[Aman] does not receive all of his desires. He will receive one or two gifts on his birthday. He will receive one or two gifts for Christmas. because he is unemployed. “He doesn’t have any money,” he clarified, maintaining his enthusiasm.

That may seem excessive for a six-year-old, but the baby baller’s expectations were equally outrageous. His father claimed that after witnessing his credit card being used, he was prepared to swipe away.

I received a message from [Aman] when I was at work, and he asked, ‘Papa? Is it okay if I use your credit card? He is six years old! “What the hell do you know about a credit card?” I ask. I had just used the credit card, and he saw it. “No,” I said, “son.” You have to pay for something that is merely plastic. “You must be employed,” he reiterated.
