A Brazilian private plane crash claims the lives of ten family members

Ten family members, including billionaire Luiz Claudio Galeazzi, died in a jet crash near Gramado, Brazil, while seventeen others were injured.

Following a private plane disaster in the southern Brazilian city of Gramado, ten members of a family have died.

According to a statement from his company, the fatalities include Luiz Claudio Galeazzi, a Brazilian businessman who was piloting the aircraft, his wife, three daughters, and other family members. During its descent, the little aircraft apparently hit a house, a shop, and the chimney of a building.

Two of the 17 individuals on the ground are in critical condition, according to local authorities. According to Brazilian media, Mr. Galeazzi was traveling with his family to Jundiaí, which is in the state of São Paulo.

Eduardo Leite, the governor of Rio Grande do Sul state, stated at a press conference that all ten of the deaths were relatives of Mr. Galeazzi. He went on to say that the plane had taken off in bad weather. Shortly after taking off on Sunday morning, the jet reportedly traveled for around 3 km (1.8 miles) before colliding with an urban section of the city.

Photographs taken at the scene show rescuers responding to the burning debris amid rubble from badly damaged structures. Mr. Galeazzi served as the CEO of Galeazzi & Associados, a São Paulo-based company that specialized in corporate restructuring and crisis management.

“Luiz Galeazzi will be eternally remembered for his dedication to his family and for his remarkable career as the leader of Galeazzi & Associados,” the company wrote in a LinkedIn tribute to the 61-year-old.

“We also offer our condolences to everyone impacted by the accident in the area.”

According to Brazilian media, a house, a furniture store, and a hotel were damaged when the jet crashed close to Gramado’s center. According to Governor Leite, the Aeronautical Accident Investigation and Prevention Centre (Cenipa) is looking into what caused the disaster.

Unprecedented floods struck the area in May of this year, causing several deaths and forcing about 150,000 people from their homes.
