Mbappe’s missed penalty at Bilbao sent him to “rock bottom”
Kylian Mbappe’s recent return to form was fuelled by his recent despair with a penalty miss at Athletic Bilbao, which he described as “rock bottom” in his efforts to adjust to his new surroundings at Real Madrid.
Mbappe, who is the all-time top scorer at Paris St. Germain, transferred to Real Madrid during the close season. However, his transition has been impeded by teething difficulties, as well as a hamstring injury and a thigh issue.
Although Mbappe missed his second penalty in a week in a 2-1 loss to Bilbao, he has since scored four goals in all competitions, including the opening goal in Sunday’s 4-2 LaLiga victory over Sevilla.
“The Bilbao game provided me with numerous positive reinforcements.” He disclosed to Real Madrid TV, “I reached my lowest point.” “I missed a penalty, and I realized at that moment I have to give my all for this shirt and play with personality.”
Real Madrid concludes the calendar year in second place in the table, a mere point behind leaders Atletico Madrid, thanks to Mbappe’s 10 goals in 16 league appearances.
“I am confident that I have a significant amount more to contribute; I have the ability to score significantly higher.” In the past few contests, I have performed more effectively,” he stated.
“I believe we have gained a more advanced understanding of one another.” As a result of my inclusion in the team, numerous changes have occurred. The period of adjustment has concluded, as the coach has indicated. I am extremely at ease within the team, and I achieve superior results when collaborating with my teammates on the field.
On January 3, Real will proceed to Valencia in La Liga.
