According to Trump, it may be advantageous to maintain TikTok in the United States for an estimated period of time

On Sunday, President-elect Donald Trump expressed his support for the continued operation of TikTok in the United States for a limited period. He stated that he had gained billions of views on the social media platform during his presidential campaign.

One of the most potent indications that Trump is opposed to the potential exit of TikTok from the U.S. market was his remarks to a gathering of conservative supporters in Phoenix, Arizona.

Citing national security concerns, the U.S. Senate passed a law in April that mandates TikTok’s Chinese parent company, ByteDance, to divest the app.

The owners of TikTok have been attempting to have the law invalidated, and the U.S. Supreme Court has consented to hear the case. But if the court does not rule in ByteDance’s favor and no divestment occurs, the app could be effectively prohibited in the United States on Jan. 19, one day before Trump takes office.

Trump’s strategy for undoing the TikTok divestiture order, which was overwhelmingly approved by the Senate, remains uncertain.

Trump stated to the audience at AmericaFest, an annual event hosted by the conservative organization Turning Point, “I believe we will need to begin to consider our options, as we did participate in TikTok and received an overwhelming response with billions of views.”

“They brought me a chart, and it was a record, and it was so beautiful to see, and as I looked at it, I said, ‘Maybe we gotta keep this sucker around for a little while’,” said the individual.

Monday marked the occasion of Trump’s meeting with the CEO of TikTok. The same day, Trump asserted at a news conference that his campaign’s success on TikTok had earned him a “warm spot” for the platform.

Most U.S. legislators have expressed their agreement with the Justice Department’s assertion that Chinese control of TikTok continues to present a threat to national security.

The Justice Department has misrepresented the social media app’s connection to China, according to TikTok. The company maintains that its content recommendation engine and user data are stored in the United States on cloud servers operated by Oracle Corp (ORCL.N), and that content moderation decisions that impact U.S. users are made in the United States.
