Man United’s manager, Amorim, excludes Rashford from the squad for the third consecutive encounter
Marcus Rashford was excluded from Manchester United’s squad for their Premier League match against Bournemouth on Sunday. This marks the third time in a row that the player has been excluded by manager Ruben Amorim, amid speculation that his tenure at the club may be restricted.
The 27-year-old forward has struggled to regain the form that enabled him to score 30 goals across all competitions during the 2022-23 season, and it appears that he has fallen out of favor.
Amorim stated earlier this week that his team is “better with Marcus Rashford.” However, he also stated that he has established high standards for players in terms of conduct during training and with teammates.
“Yet another absence from Rashford?” In his pre-game interview with Sky Sports, Amorim stated, “It is my decision, and it always will be.” “I want to see the best of my players, and then I try different things with different players, so that is my focus.”
Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho were initially excluded from Amorim’s squad for the 2-1 derby victory over Manchester City last week. However, the forward announced in an interview two days later that he was prepared for a “new challenge” outside of the club.
Despite the fact that Rashford has scored three goals since Amorim assumed the role of manager a month ago, he was substituted in the 56th minute of their 2-1 Europa League victory over Viktoria Plzen on Dec. 12. The club supporters booed the striker as he exited the field.. He has not participated in any games since that time.
Last month, Amorim expressed his desire to assist Rashford in regaining his peak performance; however, he also stated that the player must first “desire” to do so.
Gary Neville, a former Manchester United defender, stated on Sunday that he is skeptical that Rashford will remain at the club for an extended period.
“I suspect it’s getting to an inevitable ending where he will leave the club,” according to Sky.
Also absent from the 4-3 League Cup quarter-final defeat to Tottenham Hotspur on Thursday was Rashford.
