LeBron beats Abdul-Jabbar’s record of 35 years for most career minutes played
Kareem Abdul-Jabbar held the NBA record for the most minutes played in a regular season for a long time. On Thursday, LeBron James broke that record by playing his 57,447th minute in the Los Angeles Lakers’ win over the Sacramento Kings.
Abdul-Jabbar won six NBA titles and was named Most Valuable Player six times. He retired in 1989 after 57,446 minutes of play.
James, who will be 40 later this month, broke the record 10 minutes into the 113-100 win in Sacramento. It was against the same team that he played his first game in the NBA with the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2003.
“It’s just a commitment to the craft and to how much I love and care about the game.” During the off-season, I don’t spend much time. “A little more time now,” James, who has played in more than 1,500 games, said.
“I didn’t take much time in the off-season, no matter if I was making the 10 Finals appearances back-to-back and just always trying to keep my body in tip-top shape.”
James has played on the court for almost 70,000 minutes since the beginning of his career. He has played for almost 12,000 minutes in the playoffs alone. He is in his 22nd NBA season right now.
James also passed Kareem Abdul-Jabbar last year to become the NBA’s all-time top scorer. He now has more than 41,000 points.
