The deal is done! Gross returns as coach of Zamalek

Christian Gross, a Swiss tactician, has been reappointed as head coach of Egyptian powerhouse Zamalek.

Jose Gomes, a Portuguese coach who left the Cairo-based team earlier this month, is being replaced by the 70-year-old.

“The Godfather is back. On social media, Zamalek posted, “Welcome, Christian Gross.”

During his tenure with Zamalek from 2018 to 2019, Gross led the squad to victory in the Egyptian-Saudi Super Cup.

With Zamalek, the former head coach of FC Basel and Tottenham Hotspur also took home the CAF Confederation Cup.

When the White Knights play Ceramica Cleopatra in the Egyptian Premier League on Thursday, he will be hoping to make a successful comeback.
