A man accused of being Diddy’s drug mule has had his charges dropped

Brendan Paul, an associate of Sean “Diddy” Combs, had his final drug charge dropped after completing a pretrial diversion program, according to a statement released by Florida state attorneys on Tuesday.

Earlier this year, Paul, 25, was taken into custody at Miami-Opa Locka Executive Airport when authorities found candies laced with cocaine and marijuana in his possession. Authorities in Miami-Dade chose to just prosecute the cocaine accusation after first charging him with dual narcotics charges.

Paul was arrested while Diddy was the subject of heightened scrutiny. Diddy’s mansions in Miami Beach and Los Angeles were the subject of widely reported raids by Homeland Security officers at the time, which heightened public interest. The case garnered a lot of attention since Paul was accused of acting as a mule for Diddy’s drugs and guns in a civil lawsuit brought by Combs’ former producer Rodney “Lil Rod” Jones, even though officials haven’t specifically linked his arrest to those investigations.

Paul was officially cleared of the remaining charge on Tuesday, nine months after his arrest. The prosecution attested to Paul’s effective completion of a six-month pretrial diversion course, which is normally provided to first-time offenders. According to court documents, he fulfilled every prerequisite, including taking a drug and alcohol misuse course.

“Today, the entire case of Mr. Paul was formally dismissed,” Brian Bieber, Paul’s lawyer, told the Miami NBC affiliate.
