Erivo Cynthia slept for about two to three hours per night while filming “Wicked”

While filming “Wicked,” Cynthia Erivo slept for about two to three hours per night.

The 37-year-old actress, who plays Elphaba in the two-part musical smash, talked about how she pushed herself to the brink by getting up really early to work out for two hours before spending another two hours in the makeup chair getting ready for a call at five in the morning.

In a Q&A session with Kristen Bell at the Academy Museum’s Ted Mann Theatre in Los Angeles, she talked about giving up sleep during the film’s screening. According to People magazine, she stated: “I think I consciously run towards things that will use me physically, as well as mentally, because I believe that the body and the mind are intrinsically, truly intrinsically linked.”

Because I consider myself to be a very physical person, sometimes the body tells the mind what to do, and other times the mind will tell the body what to do. I want both to be operational. I would like both to be utilized.

Cynthia clarified that in order to be in the greatest possible shape for her flying scenes, she had to work out every day.

“I had never flown before,” she claimed. I had flown a little before, but nothing like this, so I simply knew I wanted to. And since the wires will carry you from one location to another, your core needs to be as strong as it can be.

My stunt coordinator, JoMcLaren, was really understanding with me. “Are you sure you want to do all of this?” she said. And I replied, “Yes.”Therefore, I would have to be prepared enough that if we were doing a loop to loop, that large loop, and the wires were working to take me from point A to point B to point C, I would have to get myself over and round without my legs simply dropping behind me.

Moreover, the actress thinks that her “very boring” existence made her demanding schedule simpler.

“I discovered that an infrared sauna blanket is really beneficial for the internal bruises,” she stated. I discovered that a therapist can also be quite beneficial for internal bruises. Doing these things makes me live somewhat like a monk.

“I naturally abstain from all of those things: smoking, drinking, and eating meat. I apologize for being so dull, but I’m at home.

“I try to take advantage of the times when I can truly relax by staying indoors. While performing these tasks, I don’t get much sleep. I therefore make an effort to make the two or three hours I do have worthwhile.

The 90-minute make-up removal technique was Cynthia’s attempt to decompress after a long day on set, but it was “so hard” following the frantic shoot.

“No day was small,” she remarked. No days were little. Not one.
