Trump’s inaugural fund receives a $1 million donation from Meta

Following Zuckerberg’s private meeting with the president-elect at Mar-a-Lago a few weeks ago, Meta has contributed $1 million to Trump’s inauguration fund.

Meta has made a $1 million donation to the inauguration fund of President-elect Donald Trump. This comes two weeks after Trump and Mark Zuckerberg, the CEO of Meta, met privately at Mar-a-Lago.

The contribution was first reported by the Wall Street Journal. Zuckerberg has been showing more and more support for Trump in the run-up to the election. “One of the most badass things I’ve ever seen in my life is watching Donald Trump get up after getting shot in the face and pump his fist in the air with the American flag,” Zuckerberg said in an interview with the “The Circuit” podcast at Meta’s headquarters in Menlo Park, California.

Several high-ranking executives from prominent American tech companies, including as Andy Jassy of Amazon, Sundar Pichai of Google, and Tim Cook of Apple, reportedly sought meetings with Trump prior to Election Day in order to interact with the then-presidential candidate in a hotly contested election.

Trump, for his part, has seemed to enjoy his increasing friendship with tech executives. In interviews and public appearances, he has boasted about his private conversations with them. He now gives credit to corporations that he once held responsible for his 2020 election defeat, which prompted years of Republican-led investigation of digital companies.

When Trump referred to Facebook as a “enemy of the people” in a March interview with CNBC, Meta’s stock fell more than 4% that day. Additionally, in a July post on his Truth Social platform, Trump reportedly threatened to prosecute “election fraudsters,” presumably alluding to Zuckerberg.
