Bruce Melodie, a Rwandan celebrity, releases a new song called “Niki Minaj,” featuring Blaq Diamond, a South African duo
Bruce Melodie, one of Rwanda’s top Afropop singers and performers, has released a new single and music video for “Niki Minaji,” starring South African chart-topping duet Blaq Diamond, who are known for their popular song “Summer Yomuthi.” Bruce’s distinctive R&B/Afropop sound is showcased with Blaq Diamond’s contagious manner in this appealing fusion of Amapiano beats and mesmerizing Afropop.
The new song is more about Nicki Minaj’s image as a representation of beauty, self-assurance, and charm than it is about her personally. The song’s theme is that he loves his girlfriend so much that he sees no need to compare her to anybody else, even if she is as famous as Nicki Minaj or any other strong, attractive lady. Bruce Melodie said of the new video, which was filmed in Kigali and produced by Jean Chretien Munezero, “I wanted to show that when you’re truly in love, no other person, no matter how stunning, sexy, or bold they are, can compare to this one girl I adore.”
Bruce Melodie is simultaneously announcing today that his first full-length record, “Colorful Generation,” will be released in early 2025. In addition to solo records that highlight Bruce’s golden voice and solo prowess, the project includes collaborations with African heavyweights like Joeboy on the lead track “Not A Lie,” Kenyan star Bien on “Iyo Foto,” and international reggae/dancehall star Shaggy on “When She’s Around (Funga Macho)” (a bonus track).
Bruce Melodie is embarking on a new phase in his career with his next album, which will showcase the diversity of African music with both traditional and modern sounds. Bruce Melodie wants to push the boundaries of his own style while showcasing the diversity of African music, as the album title implies.
Bruce has quickly established himself as a significant player in the East African music industry because to his compelling performances and widespread popularity. His most recent track, “Iyo Foto,” featuring Bien, peaked at the top of the East African charts, with over 100 million TikTok views, and trended on Shazam in Kenya. It also held the top spot on Soundcity Africa’s East Africa chart.
In order to promote his most recent songs and future album, Bruce Melodie will be traveling around the continent. His travels in South Africa (December 15–20), West Africa, and East Africa are already scheduled, and he will conduct entertaining pop-ups and listening parties to interact with fans, media, and industry stakeholders.
As one of Africa’s most well-known musical exports, Bruce Melodie has accumulated 150 million streams globally since July. Bruce just won Best Rwandan Artist at the TRACE Awards, and his next release will cap off an incredible year in which his track “When She’s Around (Funga Macho)” featuring Shaggy reached the U.S. Afrobeats Songs Chart and the Billboard World Digital Songs Chart.
