Antonio of West Ham had surgery for a fractured leg following a car accident
In response to his involvement in a traffic accident, West Ham United forward Michail Antonio had surgery on Sunday to repair a fractured lower leg.
The club reported that Antonio, 34, was alive, talking, and in a stable condition after the Saturday accident in the Essex region. Antonio was transported to a hospital in central London.
Antonio has participated in every league game this season after joining West Ham in 2015. He is a Jamaican international.
“Everyone at the Club wishes Michail a speedy recovery and wishes to express its sincere gratitude to the football family at large for the overwhelming support shown since yesterday’s news,” the organization said to Facebook.
“As well as extending a heartfelt thank you to the emergency services and first responders who attended to Michail in the immediate aftermath of the incident, and the medical team who continue to aid him in his recovery.”
West Ham will play Wolverhampton Wanderers at home on Monday in their next matchup.
