Lebanon FA will start holding football events again after the ceasefire

The Lebanese Football Association (LFA) said on Friday that all soccer games in its linked events will start up again early next year. This comes just days after Israel and Hezbollah agreed to end their fighting.

All soccer games in the LFA’s linked events were pushed back in September after Israel attacked Hezbollah targets in southern Lebanon and Hezbollah attacked military bases in northern Israel.

On Wednesday, there was no fighting between Israel and Hezbollah because both sides agreed to a deal that the US and France negotiated.

“The Executive Committee of the Lebanese Football Federation decided in its meeting today Friday to complete all football activities and tournaments starting from the beginning of the new year 2025,” a statement from the LFA said.

The 2024–25 season of the Lebanese Premier League began in September. However, the national men’s team hasn’t played in Lebanon since last year because they were in Qatar and the UAE for the home matches of their World Cup trials.

Recently, Palestine’s home games have been played in Kuwait and Qatar. Israel’s Nations League home games are being played in Hungary.
