Lampard was named Coventry’s manager

Frank Lampard, a former Chelsea and England player, has been hired as manager of second-tier Championship club Coventry City for two and a half years, the club announced Thursday.

Mark Robins was fired earlier this month, and Lampard takes his place. After 17 games, Coventry is 17th in the Championship results and hasn’t won in their last four games.

“I am very happy that Frank Lampard has agreed to become our head coach.” “Frank learned his trade in the Championship and knows what it takes to do well in this league,” club owner Doug King said in a statement.

Lampard played for Chelsea for 13 years and made 211 goals in all sports. They won a lot of trophies during that time.

Before this, he was in charge of Derby County in the Championship and Chelsea and Everton in the Premier League.

His last job as a manager was as Chelsea’s substitute manager during the 2022–23 season. He went back to Stamford Bridge for a short time.

Lampard will lead Coventry for the first time this Saturday when they play Cardiff City at the Coventry Building Society Arena.

Robins, who was fired after seven years as Coventry’s manager, took the team from League Two to the Championship and was the longest-serving boss in the English Football League. The 46-year-old has big shoes to fill.

Robins led Coventry to the NFL playoff final in 2023 and the FA Cup semifinals last year, where Manchester United beat them.
