The publicist for Jones, Arnold Robinson, revealed that he had died at his home in Bel Air on Sunday night. He said that the icon was with family during his last moments. In a statement, the icon’s family said the same thing:
“Tonight, we have to tell everyone that our father and brother Quincy Jones have died. Our hearts are full but broken.” Even though this is a terrible loss for our family, we are happy for the wonderful life he lived.
It was said by Jones’s family that “never be another like him.” Robinson said they were thankful for the condolences from friends but asked for privacy during this hard time.
Jones’ family asked that instead of flowers, people who loved him show their respect by giving money to The Jazz Foundation of America. The late musician was one of the best jazz stars of the 20th century.
Jones kept making progress over the course of his long work as an artist, film producer, composer, record producer, conductor, arranger, and musician. A report from TMZ said he was also a TV producer, record company boss, magazine founder, and multimedia businessman.
Jones worked with a lot of well-known artists.
As a director, Jones made a name for himself by working with famous artists like Will Smith, Michael Jackson, and Frank Sinatra. “Off the Wall,” “Bad,” and “Thriller,” the best-selling record of all time, were all hits for MJ.
Jones first became well-known as a jazz arranger and director in the 1950s. Later, he moved on to Pop music and film scores. He was the first African American to be nominated for an Academy Award for Best Original Song for “The Eyes of Love” from the movie “Banning.”
He set a new record by being the first African American to be nominated twice for an Academy Award in the same year. This time, it was for Best Original Score.
Jones produced and directed the well-known charity song “We Are the World” in 1985 to help raise money for people in Ethiopia who were suffering from famine.

In 1995, he became the first African American to receive the academy’s Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award, which was another first. The second most Oscar nominations for an African American were shared by Jones and sound director Willie D. Burton, who both got seven.
Jones reached many important goals over many years, and in 2013 he was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in the Ahmet Ertegun Award category. He also received a Grammy Legend Award in 1992 and got 28 of the 80 Grammy Awards that were given to him.
The jazz legend had a bad reaction to food.
The Blast reported a year before Jones’s death that he had a bad reaction to food. When someone called for help at his home in Los Angeles in June 2023, paramedics quickly arrived and took him to the emergency room.
Jones was examined by doctors and found not guilty. He did not suffer any effects. Fans who were worried were reassured by his rep that the director had been awake during the whole thing and had been in “great spirits” while he was recovering.
While the specifics of his health scare in 2023 were kept secret, Jones was open about his past health problems in the 2018 documentary “Quincy.” He said that he had two brain aneurysms in 1974, which led to two surgeries and the insertion of six steel pins into his head.
Quincy Jones paid tribute to the late Tina Turner.
Jones celebrated the late singer Tina Turner in May 2023, but he didn’t know that he would soon be with her in heaven. He posted a moving tribute along with a black-and-white picture of the two of them held close.
“Ms. Tina Turner was the only Tina Turner, and I’m so grateful that we were both here at the same time.” What a woman and a soul…Jones wrote, “The best to ever do it.”
“From working together on music to having her on ‘We Are The World,’ the memories are full of love & layered with laughter,” the producer said. It was a strong woman who had been through a lot in her life, and he told her how much he missed her.
Quincy Jones, May you rest in peace.
