Texans wide receiver Stefon Diggs will miss the rest of the season with an ACL injury
Head coach DeMeco Ryans said Tuesday that Houston Texans wide receiver Stefon Diggs tore his ACL and will miss the rest of the season.
Diggs was hurt on a non-contact play in Houston’s 23–20 win over the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday. He had been named to the Pro Bowl each of the last four years.
Ryans said, “That news hurts our team a lot.” “He’s been so helpful to our team.” Everything he brought to the game and off of it. I liked how he worked every day and how he led the group. He made our team stronger in many ways. It’s a blow to us for sure.”
After losing both Stefon Diggs and Nico Collins to illness, the Texans aren’t as strong at receiver as they were before. The second player, who has the most catching yards on the team (567), is still on injured leave because his right hamstring is hurt.
Diggs, 30, has caught 47 passes for 496 yards and three scores in eight games this season, which is the most on his team. He was traded from the Buffalo Bills to the Texans in April.
Diggs broke a couple of runs when he got hurt. He caught at least 100 passes in each of the last four seasons and had more than 1,000 receiving yards in each of the last six seasons with the Bills (2020–23) and the Minnesota Vikings.
If the Texans (6-2) lose, the New York Jets (2-6) will come to East Rutherford, N.J., on Thursday night. Tank Dell, Xavier Hutchinson, Robert Woods, John Metchie, and Steven Sims will try to make up for it.
