Back pain forces Osaka to drop out of the Japan Open

The 26-year-old had to leave the court during the second set of her last-16 match at the China Open in Beijing because she was having back pain. Coco Gauff went on to win the match and become the winner.

According to a statement from the Japan Tennis Association, Naomi Osaka has chosen to pull out of the tournament because she is hurt.

The Pan Pacific Open Tennis Tournament 2024 will be held in Tokyo from October 21–27, and Osaka is set to play.

In 2022, Osaka played in her last WTA tournament on home land. It was the Pan Pacific, but she had to pull out before her second round match because of stomach pains.

The Japan Open starts on October 14.
